01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Located in the charming town of Follo along Via Aldo Moro, Mami is an authentic Italian restaurant that delights visitors with its heartfelt approach to traditional cuisine. Although the setting is modest and a bit dated, there is a genuine warmth that permeates the rustic dining space. Wooden tables and chairs sit under soft lighting, while hand-painted floral decorations on the walls add a delicate touch of homey charm, evoking a comforting, intimate dining experience that invites you to slow down and savor each bite.

The true star at Mami is the food — a passionate celebration of Italian flavors crafted with care and freshness. Diners consistently praise the pasta dishes, with the penne con scampi standing out as a must-try. The succulent scampi perfectly complement the al dente penne, creating a harmonious balance of sea and pasta that bursts with genuine Italian flair. Every bite feels like a heartfelt embrace from the kitchen, showcasing the expertise and dedication of the talented cook, who has clearly mastered the art of elevating simple ingredients into memorable meals.

Beyond the pasta, the restaurant’s offerings continue to impress. From the rich, fragrant pesto that drew enthusiastic compliments from visitors craving a reprieve after busy days in nearby Cinque Terre, to the unique twist of tiramisu served as ice cream for dessert, Mami presents traditional flavors with a fresh and inviting touch. This culinary creativity, paired with careful attention to quality, makes each meal here refreshing and satisfying — a true delight for the senses.

The friendly and welcoming nature of Mami’s proprietor rounds out the experience, making guests feel valued and at home. It’s no surprise that many customers, including those who stumbled upon Mami by chance, have made it a fixed stop whenever they pass through the La Spezia area. The approachable prices add even more appeal, making Mami not just a place to eat, but a place to enjoy genuine hospitality and authentic taste without stretching your wallet.

While the restaurant could benefit from a fresh coat of paint to brighten its well-loved interiors, this minor detail is easily overlooked once you sit down to enjoy the delicious food and warm service. Whether you’re seeking a quiet lunch or a cozy dinner with friends, Mami offers a satisfying and authentic Italian dining experience that captures the heart of Ligurian cuisine.

For travelers and locals alike, Mami is a hidden gem that promises more than just a meal — it offers a welcoming atmosphere, rich flavors, and a touch of Italian soul that lingers long after the last forkful.

Fantastic service and food! After a stressful day in La Spezia/Cinque Terre, the warm and friendly atmosphere of this restaurant was a breath of fresh air. The most fresh, delicious pesto we have ever had, and tasty tiramisu ice cream for dessert. Grazie mille, signora!!!

Ottimo prezzo. Consigliatissimo!
